Cant seem to find the Classic options on their site anymore. Are they still offering this ? Or is it another case of: increase speeds, increase costs, decrease cap

No JayT, it can like to be gone (and likely gone forever); the ONE party trick they had that utterly floored the competition was apparently not worth keeping/too costly for them to maintain, so evidently they slaughtered it in the name of rapacious greed ...just like everyone else *cough*telkom*cough*

ja, I noticed this the other day too, obviously the packages just werent making money for them with such high amounts of cap.

They will probably now focus on the slightly mobile higher speed low(ish) cap market, wich Iburst already dominates with cheap low cap and 64kb after cap access on the higher cap accounts, as well as much better coverage, support etc.
I dont think Sentech were very clever here..

If the Classic option is no longer available then Sentech have lost the only advantage they had. Iburst is faster and has better coverage. The ONLY reason why I chose to go with Sentech instead of Iburst is the high cap. If that disappears then so do I.

Nowire still have it on their site. I think I'll email them and ask :)

Just got a reply from sentech :

Good Day,

The Classic range has indeed been discontinued. We haven't received feedback as to whether it will affect existing Classic customers.

As soon as a decision has been made, the customers affected will be notified.

Kind Regards,

Ja, that really is terrible. The moment they tell their customers (with delight) that they now get to be on the exciting flexi packages, im shure about 80% of them will leave.

And with the flexi packages, they are simply out done by Iburst who have a even bigger advatage over them now. They should probably just close down earlier ratehr than later.. unless they really plan to get huge amounts of coverage as well as a big speed and price increase/drop.

The moment I no longer have a 20GB cap at Sentech, I get ADSL. If I'm going to get a dinky little cap, I may as well have the lower prices and higher speeds of ADSL. The *only* thing keeping me with Sentech is that cap...and I'm even considering compromising on that because it's so slow.

Well the way I see it if u r on a contract then Sentech/Nowire r bound in terms of the contract for the full period. Clients on a month 2 month may be at a disadvantage.

hmm. I dont think their much point in even thinking of them anymore.

However, if they up the speed considerably, and still have higher than usual caps it could still be okay. Remember that before they had up to 40gigs, now if they are only going to be affecting the high end users etc. then its possible that they could still have cheapish 5-10 gig accounts?
But theior legacy and lack of coverage could hold them back..

just sent sentech an email asking for some more detail because i wanted to know when i had to order my ADSL...

kinda feel sorry for the support guys though, they have to deal with all these disgruntled customers...

well, think everyone using sentech would like to know what's gonna happen, this is going to affect all packages so we all want answers.

Like I said earlier Sentech would be bound to deliver if there's a contract in force.....right??? Nowire is still selling the classic packages.
