Um guy, seriously:
a: a brand new, with full warranty modem is now only R2400*
b: (for new (monthly) contracts at least) I can currently sell preowned/ex-contract modems at R1700 (your private sale offers no such safety net)
c: there are other modems for sale ..even down to R1000  ...all of this makes your offer, well, not all that appealing.

* I have a "40% rule" that usually goes: if the cost of replacing something exceeds 40% the cost of new, rather bite the bullet and go new. I think in this case your aiming point should be no higher than 60% of new (R1440) just to be in the market ..but that's just my opinion. Also 'just my opinion' is that you're just a little too ..um.. high up that mountain of yours and should seriously come down! :D
