SECURITY TIGHT AT MEYIWA CASE

Rolls of barbed wire were placed around the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday where the man arrested for the shooting of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa will appear.

Before Zanokuhle Mbatha's hearing, police checked all vehicles entering the parking lot. Only vehicles from media houses and police cars were allowed to park near the court.

Journalists were told by a court orderly to wait outside the courtroom until they were told by the National Prosecuting Authority when they could enter the court.

Police kept a heavy presence around the court.

Meyiwa, also captain of Orlando Pirates, was killed in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting his singer and actress girlfriend Kelly Khumalo last month.

Two men allegedly entered the house on Oct 26 and demanded cellphones before shooting Meyiwa and running away.

Mbatha, 25, from Vosloorus, previously made a low-key appearance in court on October 31.

CHARGES WITHDRAWN AGAINST MEYIWA SUSPECT

Murder charges were withdrawn against Zanokuhle Mbatha, the man implicated in the murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, in a quick session in the Boksburg Magistrate's court on Tuesday.

Magistrate Daniel Thulare said: "From the submissions made by prosecutor Getrude Market the court has accepted that as of now there is not sufficient evidence to put Mr Mbatha to trial."

"I note the withdrawal of charges by the State against Mbatha and consequently the court orders the release of Mr Mbatha today."

INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE IN MEYIWA CASE: NPA

There is insufficient evidence to successfully prosecute a man allegedly implicated in the murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Tuesday.

"There was a lot of discrepancies, inconsistencies, and a lot of contradiction in the evidence that we felt we could not continue with the matter," spokesman Nathi Mncube told reporters outside the Boksburg Magistrate's Court.

"Our view is that there is no prospect of a successful prosecution and we thought it would be fair to withdraw the matter and allow the police to investigate."

Murder charges were withdrawn against Zanokuhle Mbatha during a brief court session on Tuesday. Mbatha was not in court.

His relatives, who had arrived in a minibus taxi, occupied the front row in the public gallery.

Prosecutor Getrude Market told the court there had been new information from investigators.

"Investigators are following up on the new information, and that may include future identity parades... we withdraw the matter as a result of new developments."

Mbatha was represented by a private lawyer Mxolisi Ndwandwe.

Mbatha's relatives sighed in relief after Magistrate Daniel Thulare told the court the 25-year-old was to be released immediately.

Mbatha's tearful mother was ushered out of the courtroom by relatives and metro police officers to a police minibus parked outside.

Lindi Mwandle, who said Mbatha was her brother-in-law, was jubilant.

"We are so happy he is coming home... the lawyer we appointed helped us through this mess. We have been saying that Zanokuhle is innocent," she said outside the court.

Meyiwa, also captain of Orlando Pirates, was killed in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting his singer and actress girlfriend Kelly Khumalo last month.

The NPA handling of cases is becoming shocking. The worlds media will carry this story and call it incompetence.

NO WORD FROM COPS ON MEYIWA REPORT

Police comment was not immediately available following a report that slain Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa knew his killer.

The City Press earlier reported that police were investigating those who were with Meyiwa on the evening he was killed.

Three detectives involved or closely linked to the investigation said they suspected one of the people Meyiwa socialised with was likely his killer.

"I can assure you that a witness who was there during the shooting will soon be taken in for questioning and possibly be arrested thereafter," one of the detectives reportedly said.

Meyiwa was killed in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting his singer and actress girlfriend Kelly Khumalo last month. Two men allegedly entered the house on October 26 and demanded cellphones before shooting Meyiwa and running away.

Earlier this month, murder charges were withdrawn against Zanokuhle Mbatha, who had been arrested in connection with the case.

Necro udpate:
If an assassin killed him then this kind lends even more credibility to the rumour that this was a hit on him rather than him being killed during an attempted robbery.

It stated the team investigating Meyiwa’s case had interviewed a prisoner believed to be linked to the soccer player’s murder.

The man, according to News24, is currently serving a 30-year jail term for the murder of a Johannesburg taxi boss.

Ah yes, the bi-annual update on this case. You’d think it’d be a quick one considering there were witnesses at the scene. It’s a coverup because a famous person’s offspring was involved.

And they all probably wanted loot.

Mmmmm - something fishy here.
Someone/somebody does not want the truth to be known.
Yip agreed something not right. As soon as the defense mentions there is someone higher up involved and there is a specialist coverup agent involved he gets arrested, and wrongly at that.

Some context on the arrest.

Police said they visited the various residential addresses, Teffo allegedly previously provided to secure his bail, but could not trace his whereabouts as he no longer resided at the identified addresses.

“After being made aware that Advocate Teffo was appearing in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, the investigating officer in the matter consulted the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

“Following the advice of the DPP, the investigating officer would execute the warrant of arrest upon the adjournment of the matter [Senzo Meyiwa murder trial] so as not to disrupt the court proceedings in a separate matter, where the advocate is representing four of the five accused,” Mathe said.

The drama that Teffo is trying to stir is a distraction, it's very simple, he missed a court appearance and he knew very well as a lawyer that it's am offence, I still wish the cops would have waited for him outside and arrested him there, although that would still not be missed by the media.

Thinking about it maybe it was a good move for his arrest to happen in public, since he is so good with conspiracy theories he would have probably cooked up some story about his arrest and we wouldn't have the benefit of seeing it first hand.

Did he or did he not miss a court appearance and is it not an offence to miss a court appearance without offering a valid reason that is accepted by the court?

You really think Taxi Assassins' shot only 1 bullet to kill Senzo and another to injure the sister?
As much as I don't believe the theories, even what the state is presenting doesn't make sense
