I'm a noob to eCommerce / SEO... I'm busy with my first site, my site will sell technical products. I plan to do "how to videos" with a YouTube channel...

My question is, should I put these videos on my eCom site or should I create another "how to site" with all the videos, and then add buy now links back to me ecom site and vise versa for the eCom site..?

I've read that the more external links your site has the better your SEO..? But I've also read that content is KING..?

Host them on YouTube, according to all that I've read it's the 2nd largest search engine out there; then link them back to your site in the descriptions (or on the video itself).

And content is King. Essentially the more opportunity you create to allow prospective buyers to find you via blog posts, video, social media etc, the better. Don't worry about SEO, just produce quality content that helps your prospective clients find you, that's far more important.

Most eCommerce solutions will allow you embed youtube videos on the product page. However, this will slow down your page load times.

My thinking is embed the video from the "how to site" and also upload the same video's on YouTube. I'm hoping to double traffic, and "the how to site" might open doors to suppliers linking to the site and possibly advertising opportunities.
