I'm busy with some cost saving initiatives and there's a couple of servers we've identified that can be decommissioned and put into a pool of servers for redeployment.
I've spoken to the owners, they gave the go ahead. SP's have moved all data and done the backups required, normal change process/decom process. The servers are now off, well some of them...can I still save on other costs such as the power supplies to those servers, the netwroks, I already saved on the support for the servers which is what we are working with, but there must be more to save as the SP is obviously mum about the sittuation.
Also, once the servers have been decom'd - the decommission documents, can I request them to keep for future use and proof?
Once the servers are off...when exactly do we realize a saving? Support is paid yearly, but from when on do we realize a saving...on the monthy fee that we don't pay in May because we switched it off in April, or only at the end of the Fin year?
Opinions and advice will be greatly appreciated.
