Hi guys quick question do you think that it's possible that Iburst hosts a server where it can cache all the recent downloads from users? sorta like a IS newsgroup where if a user downloads ATI's new GPU driver it gets stored on a local server hosted by Iburst?

kinda like the IS/mweb newsgroup or FTP servers... I mean wouldn't it work out cheaper for them that we are downloading off the local bandwidth instead of utilizing the more expensive international bandwidth?

I'd be really surprised if they weren't running a transparent proxy, caching as much as possible in order to save themselves money. It's pretty much SOP isnt it?

every thing going out seems to be cached or proxied:
Via: 1.1 nc5-rba (NetCache NetApp/5.5R6)

if you use reget advanced it shows you a lot of details.. referrer and cookies and such forth. i asked datapro directly and they at first said no then later said yes.
(we had a problem where our initial website page was found instantly and the auth part afterwards just did not come thru. finally after explaining to them that when i change the listening port on the web server to port 85 it responds no problems they did some more checking then informed me that they excluded the domain form the proxy list...)

a thought just occured..if i am paying for 1 GB of international data and i receive 100 Mb of that via a cache server shouldn't i get that at a local bandwidth price? since my packet never left the country....

at least if in the fairy real world the laws get applied....

Dont be surprised. They force you through their proxy :(

iBurst has a proxy... and a damn nasty one too... i know cuz everytime i build sites with flash it crops up... still havent found a solution yet to bypass it completely.

do a port redirect ie call the actual flash from the same site but a different port www.somesite.com:81 of cource you will have to configure the http server to listen on that port as well...

IS`s proxy does not cache other ports...
