Server performance monitoring

What does everyone else use for performance monitoring of your VM? Very basic uptime is easy enough, but is it worth looking into third party products for a site that we're expecting a ton of traffic to, or can we use Azure's (or other provider's) built in traffic and load stats?

Since you mention Azure, look into Application Insights. It has helped us identify a few issues. It covers most of the monitoring stuff.
It has a free package which is very nice. Set up is minimal

Interesting, didn't know they branched out into that.

If you want free and basic then Spiceworks does a pretty good job.

Also Zabbix.

+ 1 for Veeam ONE. The free version has limitations on reporting, but you can still get a heck of a lot out of it.

Stackify is pretty awesome for Windows servers.

I use Nagios for all server monitoring. Its a bit of a pain to setup but very powerful when done.
Its also easy enough to write your own plugins.

Ta, I have some experience with a much older version, but ja, it definitely does the job once set up.

Anyone use Solarwinds Virtualization Manager? I'm curious how it might compare to Veeam ONE.
