Hi all,

What would be the best server solution to provide 4TB of data using SAS hdd's (Seagate Cheetah 15K.6 - http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/servers/cheetah/cheetah_15k.6/ ) arranged in RAID0+1 ? We need high performance and high availability.

An Adaptec RAID 31605 16ch controller seems like a pretty gewd controller but will it be able to handle this ?

i have an xt at home with 20mb hdd. im willing to sell it to you if the price is right. ill throw in a 360k floppy drive and a free pre-cga screen.

Have a look at the HP NAS solutions. What will you be storing on the RAID? 0+1 in no good for recovery.

0+1 isnt bad for recovery and should give you great performance imo

Look at a Fibre SAN if you really need the performance for that size, else look at using 300GB 15k SAS drives in a RAID 50/50 configuration (16/18 drives) which will be another issues of getting enough HDD bays in a box. Maybe look at the 3085 and get 2 DAS (12 drives each) boxes.
