well I take my hat off to telkom, they have exceeded my expectations on bad service.
I have applied for a dsl connection in my area, I have confirmed that the area supports dsl and that there are several people using dsl here too but telkom says that they have run out of ports as the system is broken and they plan on fixing it next year.
a year for dsl is rather pathetic.
I could not expect any thing better from them, this was the reason why I had them remove my ISDN line in the first place, two weeks to replace a NT.

well finally after convincing telkom that my area does support dsl they installed it...
wheeeeee
using d-link 2540u router, very nice.
using it in bridged mode so I can use prepaid as well (not using it yet, still on telkoms connection) and switch easly between the accounts using pppoe dialup on windows.
I have 2 pc's connected to the router, going to be interesting to see if I can have the one connected to my telkom account and one to a prepaid at the same time. any one try this yet ?

Yes it is possible, just setup a pppoe with the telkom account on the one and another on the other pc using the prepaid account
