I don't want to go into detail - Telkom's performance sucks!
Lousy connection speeds.
Lousy download speeds.
Lousy audibilty of people trying to talk to me.
0117872788 is my phone line.

Telkom - you are charging me for services which you are not delivering. You have covered your ass with the usual conditions which then enables you to charge me for services which you do not deliver.

I was about to go into how things have deteriorated since 1994 (benchmark date this - don't ever forget it), when I realised that I must not be churlish about nepotism, bribery, corruption, rewards for the struggle heroes, struggle accounting, the jackasses that are put in charge of the police services, home affairs, safety and security, minerals and energy, agriculture, communications, education, healthcare, social services and ad nauseum.

So, I will just focus on the service, or lack of it, that we all enjoy from Telskum.

Does anyone really believe that there will ever be competition to/for the Ogre?

Will the powers that be, from MR T downloads EVER allow such a thing to happen?

This is the question. What is the answer?

I doubt that we will see true libralisation any time soon. Even the so-called competition (NeoTel) has stated before that they will not take Telkom on in a price war. After all, why should they, where else are we gonna go? Now you have a look at all the Comms pies the Gov has it's fingers in, and I doubt very much that we will see prices or services comparable to the rest of the world. Look at simple things like WiMax. A few months ago Namibia had no commercial broadband offerings, now they have WiMax, and ADSL (or coming soon). How is this possible, I ask myself, for a Country basically made up of arab desert land, which to my mind is worse off than SA, to get ahead of us so quickly.

Now you look at what we have and what they don't have and you find some reasons. We hacve Incompetent CASA, we have Gov making tons of cash from telecoms (apparently to build R 90m walls), and then we have a Gov sanctioned and protected monopoly called Telkom.

No we are truly screwed...
