I am looking for a set top box that does the following:

1) Takes input from a PC (DVI input) and TV Coax cable
2) Has HDMI/DVI output
3) Has PVR type functionality
4) Support the playback of DVD's that I want to rip from my collection
5) HD support
6) Preferably have PiP.

Any ideas?

Study electronic and computer engineering concurrently for approx 6 years, may also need to do a BSc of sorts along the way. Make lots of friends and contacts along the way.
Probably will set you back a few hundred thousand, but you will be able to make what you wanted originally. :p

Don't think your going to find something like that in SA, and not in a hurry.

While you're at it, maybe throw in additional specs like:
Rip/playback Bluray (with 3D support)
A displayport and HDMI for in and out connections
digital link (toslink?) for audio processor
RJ45 and wifi-N for network and streaming support.

On a more realistic note, maybe investigate a DLNA/upnp/mythtv client-server setup with a client that can handle your output needs.

I have been using a Compro and there is a Compro W800F (http://www.comprousa.com/en/product/w800f/w800f.html) which is close. The only things missing are the DVI input and output and the PVR type functionality. The problem is that my PC doesn't have a normal VGA output. I suppose I can just get a DVI to VGA converter, skip the PVR part and be done with it.
