Set up 3G

I have a Touch HD PDA (Windows Mobile). Whenever I connect for a data service my phone automatically connects to the EDGE network.
I tried setting up to connect to 3G but there is an option for "Access Point Name"- what is that?
When I initially setup my phone the settings for MTN were downloaded automatically. Do I manually need to change the default optoin from Edge to 3G? if so, how?

the APN is usually "internet". What version of Windows mobile are you running?
