Setting up a mail server?

@Airwolf - Google Apps should do the thing for you. Then the more productive types can also work from home without the need to setup VPN's or email forwarding rules...

The only issue which I have with cloud applications is that it depends on telkom's mood, as well as the adsl line. If it's down, then you're stuck.

Maybe you can look at having a router with fallover to 3G (or something else) before the Smoothie? So whenever the adsl goes down, it'll switch over to another connectivity option to keep the people connected.

Got everything set up on Google Apps already, just need to make the MX changes on Friday afternoon (the Apps guide said that it could take from 1 hour to 48 hours to propagate, so I don't want to stuff it up during the week :D).

The 3G idea is a good option, but I don't think my boss will be interested:(. ADSL service seems pretty good here so far - maybe a total of 3 days out in 3 years.

I changed the MX records last night and it took like 2 minutes to switch over - go figure.

Any way to create an html shortcut to log directly into Google Apps email accounts?

You can create a cname like mail.airwolf.com and point it to your google apps login page.

Can you use the remember password option? and just create a shortcut to the url on the desktop.

My boss basically wants to review emails sent / received by some employees, so having to type the log in details for every account to be checked is a bit of a pain. The employees will only have pop3 access.

Anyone else have any issues with email accounts being suspended for "abuse"? 4 accounts were suspended today (after working fine yesterday and Monday).

Solution: reset password on account to re-activate.

You can setup squirrel mail on a server with PHP / Apache that can access the emails. Also this week I've discovered the wonders of "offlineimap" (also works for POP).

At work I have my Gmail and another colleagues downloaded to my box. She can access her email via Dovecot, an IMAP server hosted on my PC. Took me 30minutes of googling to get it done but its awesome.

Have the same setup on my home PC (4 different Gmail accounts) and my netbook.
