I have started using Route Sentry (RS) recently and i am having a bit of a problem with it.

Before i started using RS my mate and i used to connect to each other using a VPN so that we could game together.

Now that i am using RS i can not create a VPN link between us and therefore we can not game.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know, not always easy to log the PCs around when you want to jam.

How do you establish the VPN connection? What type of VPN is it?

If it's a proper VPN that does not rely on anything from the international part of the internet, then it should work without a problem.

I suspect that your VPN is actually some service started off from an international IP, and the change in ip address from international to local will fail.

Hey Davemc

We are using normal window VPN connection. My mate sets up to allow incoming connections and i setup my side to connect to him. We are going through our ISP, name.axxessvpn.co.za, i get the whole username and password like before but after a while it fails.

what info would you need to know in order to help?

hey stigm@t@,

Are you currently dialing 2 PPPoE connections AND trying to dial the VPN - all from your PC?

Do you have Vista or Windows 7 & have you modified the WANEndPoints in your registry? My guess is that you've modified the value to 2, instead of to 3 or a higher value for that matter.

Btw, I've now gone and rewritten an app similar to (and hopefully better than) RouteSentry :) See http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=201023

Hey Pada

i am dialing 2 PPPoE connections and yes once they are connected i am trying to run a VPN to my mate.

i am running windows 7 and have modified the registry to allow for 4 WANendPoints, but still no luck.

i had a look at your app but there are a lot of guys having problems when using windows 7.

is there anything else i can try?

Gone Cold

Hi guys

Seems this has gone cold, is there anyone who might be able to help

hey stigmata,

My app should be working fine with Windows 7 now.

The one big change that it still requires is to add the routes with an API call instead of running "route.exe". This would reduce the time that it takes to add the local routes from a minute or more to less than a second.

Btw, what happens if you dial only one of those PPPoE connections and then try to connect with the VPN? Can you connect with the VPN with both of the PPPoE connections (connected one at a time of course)?
If you are able to connect the VPN when only 1 PPPoE connection is connected at a time, then you should maybe run this file of mine (used for RouteSentry diagnostics): http://www.quickshare.co.za/files/h4p9un1l/rs-help-v3.1.bat.html , follow the instructions and then send the files to me via email (my email addr is included in the instructions).
Also send me the VPN server address that you're attempting to connect to,

Sorted.

Hey guys.
thanks for the help and all the input. we got the VPN thing working after a lot of playing and swearing.

We basically started from scratch, setup the router on both side and made sure that the port forwarding and so on was correct. then we re-did the connections and finally got it to work.

appreciate the assistance and suggestions.
