Hi all, thanks for reading, I'll try keep this short.

So a few months ago, I got that 3 month free trail from Telkom for a 1mb uncapped ADSL line, modem included. Thought the service sucked, cause I kept losing connection every day and had to restart the router. Aaanyways, got Diablo 3 and 3G is just ****, so I got Telkom to reactivate the line, so I can use my 3GB of free FNBconnect date.

I plugged in the Billion 400G?, as it was before (screw paying Telkom R600+ to plug in a router). I login to the modem, change the username and password details and save, it connects and....no internet connection. I never changed any settings, I would have guessed that it worked before, it should work again. I call FNB Connect and they say they can see I'm connected, the router picks up their DNS servers. I can ping the IP I'm connected to, no dice for internet.

I eventually give them my password, they test it on their side, they say everything is fine, its on my side...great. I tried every possible, logical setting and nothing helped, read their manual, settings seem fine. So I think its the modem. I borrow my friend's DLink router, it still has his Afrihost details, I change username and password, same thing. Can "Connect" to FNB, picks up the DNS IPs, router reports the line is up, connected and defect free, all settings seem to be correct (8/35 LLC PPPoE etc etc)...but no internet.

I thought maybe it was my work laptop and being coneected to a domain, I tried a new profile, I got my destop in the room to connect via a bridged wifi router, connects to the network and same story connected with no internet. FNB says everything is fine on their side...

ANY IDEAS PLEASE?!?!? I'm about at the end of my teather. Possibly something wrong with the line?

ok, I'm assuming that its that, since I took self install and last time they "installed" for free...get this now: so looking forward to sitting on the line with Telkom, waiting for someone to answer >.<

Error: Your request for ADSL failed.
Your DN number and your order number are unknown.
Please try again.

I went to bed early, but will try tonight. Do I have to do this ADSL verification from the ADSL connection itself, or can I do it from any internet connection? (Stupid question I know)

Can you get to wwww.telkom.co.za

^This^

How do I Verify my ADSL Service
• Please follow the instructions for your router setup as included in the product box, otherwise: Please connect your ADSL Router to the Telephone Jack (telephone cable provided - small plugs), and to your computer’s Network Interface (network cable provided - larger plugs). Connect the router’s power adapter, switch on and check the lights on the router.
• Once BOTH the ADSL / Link and PPP / Data lights are lit (solid not flashing) open a browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) on your computer and visit www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl
• If the lights on your router are flashing, please do not proceed with the verification process. You will need to contact us so we may log a fault with Telkom. Unfortunately we have to rely on Telkom for this and have to tell you that it may take up to 72 hours to receive a response from them. Optionally you may try to speed up the process by calling 0800375375 to report this in person. Please note the reference number provided.
• Successful verification should give the following confirmation message:
• “Your request for ADSL service was successful. Your profile will be activated in about 30 minutes. During this time your PPP connection will be broken. Please try to access your service in 30 minutes time.”

Many thanks for the help guys, gonna do this as soon as I get home :)

I got it verified, had to call them to get the actual order number. Telkom told me nothing of this, or even gave me the correct order number. -__-

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!
