we are with telkom and have the settings from them to setup an email account. my wife needs her own email account but how do i do that with only one set of settings from telkom?

i setup the email on her laptop and one email for me came through to her laptop but nothing appeared in my box.

we both are using Outlook Express.

thanks.

we dont know anything about gmail.
do we use the same telkom settings in gmail?

Go to gmail.com.
Sign up for a new account.
Need no settings. Accessible from any computer anywhere in the world, even a cellphone.

If your Telkom internet allows you more than one e-mail account, then you should be able to login to your account and setup an alias, or second e-mail, depending on what they call it - with M-Web, I have my main e-mail, then I can create up to 4 additional mailboxes - each of these is their own e-mail address and space...

Maybe check the help section after logging into your Telkom account web page - the settings should all be there.

Otherwise, signup for a gmail account - quick and easy to setup... www.gmail.com

hmm ok thanks let me see if i can mess that simple task up. i'll be back!!!!!!!

+1 for the Gmail... you just access it in the Web Browser.

If you really need to download your mail to your computer you can do that as well. Instructions are there in the Gmail page under Help.

And if you ever re-format your computer you don't need to worry about backing up your e-mail.

Not sure about your telkom settings, but Gmail is web-based and you can configure e.g. Outlook Express to receive your mails too.
You would sign-up and access your 'gmails' by going to www.gmail.com
It will redirect to something else..... just click the sign-up for Gmail link, choose an email address like //[email protected], supply a password and off you go.

Also read http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=12103 for supported POP clients (like Outlook..) and it will guide you.
Gmail is cool, you can even access it from your cell :D
