Setting Up Google Wallet

I want to use the NFC feature on my phone so its my first time doing this, I have downloaded Google wallet and added my card but it says "Finish Set up - Your bank wants to verify its you" "Call bank".

I'm with Standard Bank, I had no idea each person has to actually call the bank to confirm this.

Is this the only way?

Yes.. just call them up and say you need to add your card to google wallet and they will walk you through it.. took me 5 minutes on call with them and it was sorted..

Not sure on the exact reason, but I believe it's to avoid having to enter your PIN for larger amounts.. I only need to enter my PIN for purchases over I think 5k if I recall.. anything less is just tap and go when the phone is unlocked..

Open the Standard Bank app, manage and see t your Bank card. You should be able to add it from Google Wallet here.

So I clicked on "Tap and Pay" on standard bank and enabled NFC and chose my card. It says "Pending". I'm not sure if that means that once it's approved, Google wallet will then automatically work. If not I'll probably have to call them I guess.

No you can move to a proper bank like Capitec or bank zero that verifies via SMS.

standard just seems like a long winded shlep, when it exists already.

Yeah I know standard bank isn't the best in terms of these things but can't do anything about that now. Guess a call will have to do

I had the same thing when I wanted to add my Standard Bank card, so I ended up not doing it.

Just yesterday I tried again, and I was able to.

So you didn't need to do any call to standard bank? Did you do anything on the banking app ?

Or Tyme Bank that scans your face and adds it to Google wallet or Samsung pay.
 
Okay I'm sorted now. Was simple

Do you need to open Google wallet app to pay Or just unlock phone?

I did absolutely nothing, so I honestly cannot tell you what changes. I sort of have up, then one day I tried again, and it worked.
