Hello MyBB,

My neighbours and I would like to set up a homeowners association. There are 11 residences that all stay in a small area around a cul-de-sac. Each house is situated on a property that is separately owned, so there is no joint ownership/sharing of land. The aim of the association is to come together to fund the following:

  • Build a wall to block foot traffic coming from a main road. The wall will be built across private property, as confirmed with the Municipality. So the wall will be completely legal.
  • Set up an access controlled area just before the cul-de-sac. This will be done in line with Municipality's procedures.

We would like to set up an Association in order to set up a bank account to manage the finances and all agree on the procedures for approval for work, etc. We will nominate two or three people to watch over the bank account and admin requirements of the association.

Would the best course of action be to set up a NPO through CIPC?
