I have the following problem. I've just bought a D-link DVG-G5402SP Router, and i'm trying to get it connected with the iBurst Desktop Modem, now we have setuped the PPPoE setting and added the DNS (iburst) also and it seems to connect it shows on the status thats its connected (WAN) and logged, however if you go on browser then noting happens.

Is there something we are missing or does someone know how must the setup be, for WAN (green on - looks like its working) to be working or can someone explain perhaps from start what we need to do to get the system linked to router and running.

i've thought about DCHP but dont know if its neccessary.

DVG-G5402SP (router specs)

2 FXS ports to connect to 2 analog phones for Internet phone calls
VLAN and prioritized voice traffic for smooth and secure voice communication over the Internet
Make phone calls anywhere in the world at little or no charge using the Internet

Either that is a sublimely slick RAS post (and I'm more paranoid than I thought (even for me..)) or you're genuine and you really have a (actually quite basic) problem. Being charitable I'll allow for the latter and advise you look at MTU: you want 1352. (but I'm going to be MIFF if I end up having fallen for a con!)

We tried MTU was orginally on this setting 1352 - but it still doesnt work we even tried the other one 1392, but nothing works..

Then you're up THAT creek and your paddle's MIA! OK, that raises the obvious question: all work well when you jack the UTD (the modem) into a PC *via Ethernet*? (you would have to create a new 'broadband'/PPPoE connection in 'doze's networking control panel)

Hi Skywise, did you therefore manual set your IP settings since you are not using DHCP?

I assume your gateway is then set to the IP address of the router?

What happens when you ping? For example:

1) Ping google.com - please post result

2) Ping 196.43.1.13 - please post result
