Setting up remote desktop connection

I'd recommend clearing this with IT security if you haven't already, and if you have a IT sec department. Otherwise get a mail from your boss saying you are allowed to set this up just to cover yourself. You are essentially exposing your work network to the net.

Honestly, save yourself (and us) the pain. It's not trivial.

Just use Teamviewer, it's excellent and requires zero configuration. If it's slow it's your connection, not Teamviewer.
Yes I will try this again, if someone can then just pls explain to me how I can speed it up a bit, as mentioned earlier.

Ha ha, I am actually the boss, and the worker....
If this will cause security issues, then I will rather leave it there.

Ive used TV helping people in Germany and in SA, hardly any problems in terms of speed.

OP what isp is at your work and home.

Or try one of the dozens of VNC client-server packages out there. Years ago I used TighVNC as they also had a WM client. Of course you'll need to set up port forwarding on your router, and use a dns forwarder like dyndns to find your IP. That also means a dyndns updater.

And knowing what/why you have a static ip address.

Too much misinformation going on here...

blue-eye-boy, I will send you a PM.

I do not know if you have a VPN server but why dont you either connect to that and then RDP to your machine? or create a VPN server in your company (with permission) and then RDP.

He's the boss :D

Alternatively, ssh tunnel. Will be either easier or more difficult to setup, depending on who you ask
