Setting up Telkom Mobile voice mail

I've recently ported to Telkom and am now trying to set up voicemail, but can't seem to get past the first hurdle. I dial 181 after which I'm prompted to select a password between 4 and 7 digits. No matter what password I dial I get told the password is not valid. Anyone else struggled with this?

Yes they need a super random long password. If you enter a really random password like 5914752 for example it will work. Not sure why they are so fussy with that password. 4 digit password does NOT work.

So, after trying all sorts of lovely combinations of various length without success, a simple 1234 worked. :wtf:

I had exactly the same experience. Bizarre. Thanks for the solution. Now I guess I'd better try to improve it!

I cant get beyond 181. Dial it and I get beep beep beep. Subscribed yesterday and dialled x66# after an hour. identicall is working.

Can confirm that "1234" is the password to use......

Wouldnt accept, "2018", "20188", "201888" or "2201888"

I am not able to retrieve voice mail messages on my landline. I recently migrated to LTE. I dial 181 and just get an engaged tone. When I test the system from another phone it is taking voice messages. Please help.
