I want to set up a wireless network in my house. I already have a ADSL router in the study but it only covers 2/3 of the house due to think walls and my house being reasonably long.

There are 2 telephone lines, one in the kitchen on the opposite side of the house ad one in my parents room which is directly above the study. We were told by a Dial-a-nerd that if we had routers there and in the kitchen we could cover the whole house.

If I bought to routers and just plugged them into the wall would i be able to use the wireless around the house or do I, as I suspect, need to get the silver ADSL cable from Telkom and plug it into the wall and router. How much do these cost, how do i put in my details to the router and is there any router recommended. I am setting a budget of around 1k for the whole "project"

Thanks

Buy a second wireless router that supports WDS (if ur first supports this)
You should be able to pick this up for less than R500.

Setup WDS, ur done

Is there no other way. I am very happy with my current router. Is it possible to just buy like a signal booster. Having to buy 2 new routers and then re-setting up the whole thing at home isn't ideal especially since the current router is less than a year old.

If I bought a router and just plugged it into a power source and put in my details ie username, password etc using my laptop could that not work?

You could try installing DD-WRT firmware on your Linksys router which supports WDS. Check if your router is compatible first otherwise you may brick your router.

It isnt WDS compatible. If i got a WDS compatible on and used that as my main on could I then use that one just to relay the signal. Like an ampifier of sorts
