Hi there. I just bought a Sony Klv-46W450a lcd and hooked it up to my HD PVR via a monster cable flat screen HDMI cable. I also have a PS3 which is hooked up via a monster 500hd HDMI Cable. I hooked up the ps3 to a buddies Samsung series 7 LA40". The blu ray looked amazingly life like. I put the same bu ray on my 46" sony and it was no where near it. The blu ray on my sony is amazingly clear but i dont get that real life feel that i got on the smasung. I know that the samsung and Sony panels are effectively the same and the specs are more or less the same for both of them apart from size. Is there a way for me to change the settings on the Sony so that i can get that real life feel. By the way my buddy has a SDPVR connected via the normal yellow video cable and the pic on that is also life like. I just dont get that same pic quality/clarity on the sony. Please help

That TV you bought is a very good set, and you probably just need to calibrate it properly. You can find some settings that works for other people on avforums.com:

Just be aware that the model numbers are not the same in the UK, I think your's might be called W4500 and not W450:

Hey guys sorry for the late reply, but thanks a lot. I manged to get the pic to more-or-less what i was expecting. I also found out that in the UK the 450a is called the 4500 and in the US it is called the xbr6. I serached through a whole lot of settings from the avforums link and finally came up with a decent set on my 46W450a. I am posting them below just in case someone wants to use them

Standard
Backlight = 2
Picture = 88
Brightness = 54
Colour = 54
Col Temp = Neutral
Sharpness = MAX
NR = Low
Mpeg NR = Low
ACE = Low
Live Colour = Low
Colour Space = Wide

Wide Mode = Full
Auto Wide = ON
Display area = Full Pixel

Motionflow = High
Cinema Drive = Auto 1
Game/Text = Off
Video/Photo = Video
x.v.Colour = Auto

Power Setting = Reduced
Light Sensor = ON

I still dont know what most of this really means, but my pic came to life with these settings. I also think that maybe the set needs a few days to warm up, but hey that is all i can say.
