I have a Netgear DGN 2200 on one end of the house and a Netgear W802T wireless access point on the other end(connected via switch with cat6 cable)I loose the internet connection at times it is very slow.Neither my phone nor tablet wants to join. Please help. It worked fine yesterday (installed the accesspoint on Friday evening)

You say you want settings for your access point only; are we correct then in assuming that the connection is only unstable/slow/unusable on the side of the house with the access point; yet it is fine on the side with the DGN2200 router?

The following assumes that your DGN2200 router's LAN IP setting is: 192.168.0.1 - substitute as necessary.

1) In the W802T access point's web config, set it to a static LAN IP address 192.168.0.2
2) then set the access point's subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
3) then set the access point's default gateway to the IP of the router, in this case 192.168.0.1
4) DISABLE the DHCP server on your access point completely.
5) Check that your DGN2200 router's DHCP server is ENABLED in its web config; only for the range 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.254 (the last part allows you to add more static devices as necessary, just a bit of future-proofing)

And that about covers it.

I can connect to the wifi switch, but no internet.

When you're able to provide more details, we can troubleshoot further.
Also, this is the first time a 'wifi switch' has been mentioned, so not sure of exactly what you're referring to there.

Hi There,
The Accesspoint should be able to allow access based on MAC addresses. I have had problems on my netgear with wireless connection where it would connect to the router but not the internet. Putting the mac address into the router in my case worked fine.
Also make sure that you are using the same channel for the WiFi at the router and the access point. It may have been slow because you were connecting to the router and not the access point.

Yip I second the MAC address fix. Just put the mac address of your wifi access point into your main router.
