I have an iBurst Desktop Modem, and a D-Link DIR-320 wireless router

I want to be able to access my desktop remotely.

I have created a dyndns account. I have installed the dyndns client software application on my desktop and added the account.

I see on the router you can also add a dns account there, but I am going to stick with the software.

I have enabled port forwarding, but which ports do I need to open. I cannot seem to be able to access my desktop remotely. So Far I have opened port: 80, but I cannot connect remotely to my desktop

Any help will be much appreciated.

I have had many issues trying to do the same. Download teamviewer. Free for non commercial use and works great!

+1 for teamviewer, way easier to use.

As for your Q...

Accessing more than one computer

If you have more than one computer behind your router, you will need to assign each one a different external port. For example, if you want to access computers A and B, which are behind the same router, you could configure your router to forward port 5900 to A:5900 and port 5901 to B:5900. Some routers do not allow the external and internal port numbers to be different; in this case you would have to reconfigure the VNC Server running on B to accept connections on port 5901 and configure your router to forward port 5901 to B:5901.

As per SharkBait's link, you need to forward port 5900 to your desktop, not port 80.

i would rather go with remote desktop (RDP), port 3389. i found RDP to be much more responsive than VNC an or teamviewer and no need for additional software to be installed.

b.t..w. to log on to a win server console session (0) execute 'mstsc /console' on Win v 5 - or 'mstsc /admin' on Win v 6+

Assuming the OP is running Windows, then yes.

Teamviewer works okay but tends to lag a lot. Have you tried Logmein. Have been using Pro and free versions. Works great.
