Now I get this question a lot, "I have a DSL-300T Modem from D-Link, how the bloody hell do you set this unit up to connect to the Internet."

We'll here is how.

1) Change you Local Area Connection IP to a Static IP e.g. 192.168.1.45. Your default Gateway must point to the DSL-300T (Default IP is 192.168.1.1). The two DNS IP’s are given to you by your ISP and they need to be entered as well.

2) Open Internet Explorer and enter the default IP address of the DSL-300T, which is 192.168.1.1 (The default login Username and Password is admin)

Then for the DSL-300T you’ll need to go
3) to HOME > WAN.

4) Set the WAN settings to Bridge Mode and make sure that your VPI = 8 and your VCI = 35 and then click Apply.

5) Then you’ll need to go to TOOLS > SYSTEM and click the Save and Reboot button. This will save what you've editted permanently to the unit's EEPROM.

6) Open Network Connections from the control Panel and click Create a New Connection.

7) In the Welcome to the new connection wizard click Next.

8) In the Network Connection Type window select Connect to the Internet. Click Next.

9) In the Getting ready windows select Set up Connection Manually. Click Next.

10) In the Internet Connection windows select Connect using a Broadband... Click Next.

11) In the Connection name windows enter the connection's name. Click Next.

12) In the Connection Availability window select Anyone's Use (if you want to). Click Next.

13) In the Internet Account Information window enter your ISP-given username and password.

Enable this connection to be the default connection, enable ICF and allow connecting without the need to prompt for a username and password - if you want. Click Next.

14) In the final window select to create a desktop shortcut (if you want) and click Finish.

15) A connect ISP PPPoE window will appear. Try to connect.

16) Go back to the Network Connections window and see your new icon. You can change it's properties by right-clicking on the icon.

If you have an operating system older than Windows XP you’ll need to download a PPPoE dialer because the Broadband dial-up function isn’t built in.
Download here:

Remember the DSL-300T is a Modem and a device behind it needs to do the PPPoE Broadband dial up like a DI-604 or a normal PC.

Hope this helps!

d-link 300t help pls

Hi,

Ive got a dlink 300t and am having problems connecting to the device.

I’m running vista, it connects to an unidentified network but I’m unable to access the modems management portal. (Java is installed and enabled.)

I’ve reset the modem to factory defaults for some reason in command prompt it does not assign a default gateway.

Please help – is this a vista driver issue?
