Sewerage Broadband wtf

it's a little robot like thingy that strings the cables through...i'll see if i can find a picture of it.
 
Cables in the sewarage system... a possible detterent for would-be thieves? :p

I know about those. A friend of mine built one of them for some company. But they don't work for pulling thick&heavy cables afaik (and fiber+protection is a fairly large cable).
 
"The cable guys" clean & recondition the walls of the sewer pipes, then the robot lays stainless steel "rings" inside the pipe. It pulls a conduit through that clips onto the ring, and the fiber runs inside that. It is a last mile solution. :)

Not a bad idea. No need to dig up the road. None of this shallow cable stuff where everyone worries that the cable will be cut the first time the muncipality retars the road. Must be quicker than having to dig up the ground...
 
This is no hoax - it also makes a lot of sense - no digging, all homes are already serviced...why not run fibre through the sewers?
 
Its a great idea I would just hate to be the guy that has to go down there! :sick:
