Sexy Commuter Bikes?

Seriously 'tho, have a look at a Vespa... Been around for ages and still cool. Not sure when the Quarantasei will be out but it's drop-dead gorgeous.

EDIT: Sorry 'bout the Ducati's name. MyBB doesn't like the sequence of letters that make up the bikes name so just hitting Reply means you end up with something a little like Pa****le... Doesn't like a link either.

He did ask for a bike, in what universe would you commute on a Vespa?

I am looking at the Triumph Tiger 800 or the BMW 800 GS

Could also get a BMW 1200 but I don't know if I want such a big bike.

Thanks for the replys, I should have mentioned my Budget is R30 000. So its likey going to be sub 200cc class.
 
Not being funny but I wouldn't buy something smaller than a 600. Yes it'll be great to learn on and a safer way to start maybe but you will grow out of it very quickly. If you really want to keep it small then get a Honda CBX250 (Twister), tonnes on the road, reliable as anything, pick up a good nick one for about R15000, doesn't look bad as far as small bikes go...

I like Scooby_Doo's suggestion though, KLR650 is a great bike, will have enough power, easy to ride, comfy for a commute. I would also look at the Suzuki SV650 (from about R25k) and the Suzuki GSR600 (from around R35k) for a more sporty commuter or the Kawasaki ER-6 (N or F versions) (from around R25k) as well as the Kawa Versys (from about R40ish).

So yeah, for R30 000 (plus a bit for some) you have a few options, look around, take them for a test ride and see which you prefer.

BTW, do you currently ride/know how to ride?

I love both these bikes...funny enough, both those bikes have owners in my complex. I spend most days admiring them.

Me, I wouldn't commute. Just way to dangerous. I would however get a Harley 1200 Nightster just to make a hell of a noise and cruise on weekends. :) coming from my scooter and vespa, I'm sure it would be a lot more fun
 
I have the ER6-F,

Must say it is an awesome ride.
Very comfortable and has enough power.
