sexyfication : any tips on having it looking nice without going bloat ?

yes that web page you are developing for a client of three. need sexy pointers to have it look nice without going too much web 2.0 or having them downloading a ton on each click :)

There's obviously jQuery + CSS sprites that you can implement. Those usually sexify the pages up sufficiently without adding bloat...

There's quite a few nice looking effects and stuff you can do with CSS. One of my favourite easy things is setting the top/left borders a lighter colour and the bottom/right borders a darker colour to give something a 3d look. Can also use it with rollovers on buttons etc.

Subjective taste I guess. I prefer flat elements or using CSS sprites to give much better 3D representations.

Man I was so expecting this to be a Health&Wealth&Relationship topic with that thread title.

Have a look at http://www.web9.co.za/ and http://www.web-design-prices.co.za/

2 very sexy and beautiful website without going over the top

Why would one assume that busty ladies and an almost-nude female body (representing "perfection" ???) would appeal to everyone looking for a website? I honestly think adding sleaziness to a site drops the level of professionalism quite a few notches...

If anything, it makes me think of under-sexed teenage boy(s) sitting in a damp, dingy basement marketing their (his?) "1337" web-design skills and depicting their (his?) strife to perfection by posting scantily clad lass in the image carousel of their (his?) page.

Self-advertising, huh? Not very nice, shingi.

Anyway, seeing as you opened yourself up to it... design-prices uses tables for layout. Not.Good. It also loads the same JavaScript twice, into 2 variables. Copy and paste.

The other sites all use Joomla, which has the unfortunate legacy of tables for layout - especially within older modules (like the menu module in use, and the slideswitch module), but I think web9 also uses a table layout within it's theme.

Sorry, but it all looks very amateurish - like you know how to use the system without understanding what goes on behind the scenes. Might not affect your clients (who obviously don't have the technical expertise), but don't try and make yourself look good here - it won't work.

Sexification of site using jQuery and CSS: www.lupacreative.co.za

Supposed to validate against XHTML 1.0 Strict, but stupid XSLT parser removed all closing tags for empty DOM elements. Will be fixing tonight though... Also, choice of photos not mine (evident through the images' source: content/images/uploaded/[GUID].jpg). Having email displayed on contact page wasn't my choice either, neither was NOT having CAPTCHA on contact form...

(Not self-advertising here - was done for client of mine... :p)

I don't see a meta name="Author" tag. Bad. :p

It's well done though. Nice and light. You adding analytics?

One Q: Why do you have inline styles?

Thanks and yes. I'll be adding analytics after I've received last payment on the site.

Got lazy after adding the menu in the end. Because the menu has separate images for each item (with CSS-sprites for mouse-overs and selected, of course), I could've combined them all into one nice, big image and manipulated with CSS to display the correct ones based on different classes, but decided the extra effort wasn't worth the payment.

After scrutinizing over a site for so long, you kinda stop caring about some minute details. Especially if the client isn't paying truckloads of money... :p

You all have some very good points but at the end of the day a website is judged on whether it converts visitors to clients or not. These sites have some unbelievable conversion rates simply coz they are different from the same old boring sites out there - Our clients also receive Top Class Service. I Love ALL of you (especially Raithlin :-)
