SGS2 charging / battery drain issue

Ok so my beloved SGS2 is giving me grief with battery life and or charging all of a sudden :(

was fully charge Sunday night - Monday morning it's flat. started charging again, phone got hot at the back near the top of the phone.

switched it off completely - it then started charging normally - switch it on and it started draining the battery faster than the charger could charge it!?

replaced the original battery with a new one - this proved even worse. put the original one back. (seems the new battery is a fake)

last night I switched on the wifi while on charge and let it do some updates - was charging fine. went to bed it was 3/4 full (I switch off ALL Internet connections and mute the phone at night) - phone was dead this morning!

Don't know why it's draining the battery all of a sudden - which only gets mildly warm compared to the top of the phone above the back camera which gets decidedly warm? is this where the antennae is?

any ideas? / solutions? other than toss it and get a new one?

thanks

I've had the exact same problem with my SGS4. I got a brand new battery from Samsung and it hasn't made any difference.

yeah it sucks! to me it seems when on 3g it drains the battery fast!

on my home wifi it charges normally?

the only thing I did last week was to update the facebook app - which I can tell you shert! would love to undo that and go back to the previous one which was less shert than this one!

could it be something in the background running causing the drain?

Sucks when devices we love give up the ghost. Of my 2 tablets, charge them both at night, one is drained in the morning the other's 60%. Whether wifi is on or off.

Same issue with my SGS4.

Replaced the battery, still the same.

Phone dies anytime after reaching around 30% battery.

might still look at the J1 if I don't like the mini.
