Shadow of Mordor on PC controller question

My SO has this on her Win8 notebook and can't deal with keyboard/mouse. She's currently got a wired Logitech controller that works just fine for her other game she's playing but SoM isn't interested in knowing it, and doing the manual key-mapping thing for SoM then breaks the other game ...fun times.

So I'm looking to get her an Xbox controller, which is where even MOAR fun creeps in: I can't find a 100% definitive answer that it can work with a wireless controller (whether 360 or One), or *has* to be wired. And given that finding a wired controller these days is its own brand of fun I'd rather get a wireless one, but not if it's going to add (yet more) drama to this whole bloody hairball.

Therefore: can I get solid confirmation that, say, a wireless 360 controller WILL actually work so I can just get one of those and get free of this mess? :o
 
Just get a wireless xbox play kit for Windows.
It works very well.
You get a xbox controller and the wireless connector for the pc which plugs in via usb.
Best option imo.

Just turn it on and play.

If you get the wireless controller you need to get a pack with the wireless receiver as well.

I just got the wired one though as I hate worrying about batteries.

Google "x360ce shadow of mordor". I'm still playing with my Logitech Rumblepad 2 that I bought ages ago using that emulator. Playing Dragon Age Inquisition with the emulator and got it to work 100%.

ps. I've still got all the configuration files to play Shadow Of Mordor. If you want I can mail you the rar with all the files, just pm me. About 600kb. My config is for the Logitech Rumblepad 2 off course.

That's almost the same price as the wireless though?
Either way, those are your best bet.
 
Wireless 360 Controller for windows, and play and charge kit for when the batteries get low, it does warn you so you have time to plug it in.

And? I'd pay extra to not use batteries. Especially since the 360 controller uses AA batteries and not built in battery like like the PS3/4.
 
So, seeing as the silly bint :love: has her heart set on a wireless controller (you know when a thing gets mentioned, and then birthday also happens to get mentioned in the same sentence...) it looks good to just get one now and be done with it. Ta to all for the input.

Right, that appears to be this info (eng version), so there's that.

Ah, good - the same controller; for completeness, it seems best to do this as well, PM incoming.
 
Okay, question refinement: would there be a difference, in this setup, between a 360- and One controller? Point being if from the system side it doesn't matter, I may as well go One 'cos it's newer (pandering to chick logic here) and therefore (obviously) better. :rolleyes:
 
Update: it turns out that the One controller has official drivers. But, (arguably) even better, it connects via a bog-standard micro-USB port!

Which makes jacking it in to milady's laptop dead easy.

Bonus, subject to YMMV, it can apparently also be jacked into a rooted 'droid phone/tablet.
