I was responding to marine1 who said the ANC did/does damage to this country and that some day, justice will prevail.

My response was to explain to him that often, in life, justice does NOT prevail. It is a pipe dream. Example: The pre-1994 govt.

If you think every old white oom who was involved there, got properly punished, you are deluded. Most of them silently disappeared with their loot.

Well, you quoted me when you answered...anyway..what do you propose a Nazi war tribunal type of thing?
 
I think when the pre-1994 government secret documents are declassified a lot more skeletons will come out of the cloest. Remember the TRC was only covering events that we knew or were allowed to know about.

When the ANC have truly ****ed this country and the people have turned against them then they will declassify and use those documents to remind the masses of who they are/were. People will eventually see through the race card and at that point they will need something a little more substantial than Mugabe style rhetoric.

Getting away with murder and corruption is never the answer. My question to you, however, is does this country now embark on a witch hunt and get everybody totally hysterical, or do we leave things as they were after the TRC?

Before you answer, please just consider the type of Right Wing backlash this type of thing would cause, never mind the hysteria fro the average white guy in the street.

The NATS got their justice, they lost the country and now are watching it burn, trust me they got what they deserved ;)

I am talking about individuals. Mr X who stole money or killed people and who are now e.g. living in Europe or wherever on stolen tax money.

Is that justice ? You don't have high standards if you think that is justice.

It's got nothing to do with a lowering of standards. This entire matter was done and dusted with the TRC in 97/98.

If you want to start digging for skeletons then you might as well ask Julius for a job, as you would stir up so much rubbish that you would take the country straight back to the late 80's...

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE: Let's swing this around. If it is OK for some of the disgusting old ooms of the apartheid era to get away with their crimes, why should some ANC members not get away with their crimes? ;)

No need to shout...I still say that if you now try and rake up the past you are starting a bloody witch hunt.

TRC sorted out the major turds from the old days - ANC accepted it - now let's move forward and just keep an eye on the ANC fat cats so that they don't think they can get away with it. (Which they obviously do - judging by their climbing on the gravy train)
 
Fazda i reckon you are missing the point here. No-one from the [-]good[/-] bad old days really got "sorted out" ... and there's no reason to believe that the current lot will. Those who think so are being naive (IMHO of course)
