I've decided to start playing with my shaman again. He's level 28, haven't played with him for a while. I would like to get him heirlooms to make the leveling a bit faster. What build is the best pve for a shaman, I'm currently elemental and was thinking of dual spec on 40 to restoration. Should I consider enhancement rather instead of elemental for leveling?

Enhancement is waaaaaaaaaaaay fun for leveling a shammy. Its like having a mini paladin. Many a time in my late 40`s I leveled with a paladin and we got ourselves into big pull fights where we both thought we would die... but the instant heals from my shammy, and the paladins pure strength got us through a big collection of creeps.

Ive actually decided to keep my offspec at enhancement... its just too much fun! (also there are enough elemental shamans in a raid that melee really appreciate the totem buffs you bring to a raid.

Your DPS as an enhancement is pretty close to that of elemental except now you can spend the game looking at the groin of the raid boss with all the other melee :)

I have a mage, so making another caster didnt make sense to me.

Enhancement is tons of fun I will agree... but with 45min queues as dps, OP has the right idea - elemental can heal almost as well as a resto specc'd shammy before Outland, so groups would be a lot easier to get as a healer ;)

Healed as elemental all the way to lvl72 where I discovered the awesome that is resto. Gearwise the gear can be shared while leveling ( Try to prioritize Mp5 for your healing gear though as you'll need to drink ALOT as elemental healing )

Near instant queues as healer for instances meant 4 days from 0 to 80 too ;)

Hey dude Enhancement is the best for leveling , no manna issues
Only go elemental after level 70
I got 2 account masses chest and pvp shoulders

It seems enhancement is the better leveling spec, but the benefits of staying elemental can't be ignored. I only need to get one set of heirloom gear, since resto and elemental can share the same gear. The lfd system is also a lot quicker.

I preferred to level up my shaman till around 65 as enhancement. With decent gear and enchants this is sooo easy, by far the fastest char I have leveled. At 65 I went elemental and only at 80 did I go resto. The very nice caster gear you get from 70 onwards is a big boost for casters. Took me just over 2 days to go from 65 to 80...
I did stay away from instances till around 80, and only joined in if there were a guild group forming. In my opinion I leveled much faster outside of instances than inside, and the gear I got from the instance would be useless within a few hours...

I leveled up my Shaman as Ele/Resto which was perfectly fine. Being able to heal that much better (proper Resto offspec and using Ele gear) it made fail groups able to clear instances.

Enhance could've been faster perhaps - but it also really depends if you're going to solo your way to 80 or have a partner. 2x Melee is preferable or 2x Ranged so you can nuke the mob before it even touches either of you.

Enhance for solo levelling. Ele/Resto if you wish to level through the LFD tool.

Don't try solo level as Resto as it takes immense amounts of time in order to kill things. Not saying it's not possible, just more difficult than Ele/Enhance.

Good to see more people playing Shaman, I've been playing it (Enhance) since the beginning of TBC and switched to Resto once I hit 80 in Wrath. Still playing my Shammy and will play him through Cataclysm :)

Once you get to 80, keep this in mind: Enhance is the most complicated of the specs to play, but the most fun. Elemental is the easiest spec to play and is the most rewarding in terms of DPS to effort (Less effort than enhance, more DPS - Movement fights prove to be a problem), unfortunately it has not been well itemized in terms of gear. Resto is mostly a one-button wonder in raids but yields the most rewards in terms of gear availability.

Have fun :)

i just dinged 80 as enhance shammy and im still having fun with him :D just got offspec for resto but no gear. That will have to wait :p

Enhance is a lot of fun, & you mow down mobs like it's going out of fashion. Going dual-specc resto to heal in instances works really well though - I levelled from 20-70 like that stupidly fast, hardly getting chance to get any questing done at all because I found groups so fast. It's only since the xp per instance dropped off in the Northrend instances that I've gone back to enhance solo play, & I only really do the daily for the emblems now.
