I really did feel sorry for Sentech, with all the bad publicity they recently recieved, BUT, after a little thought, it dawned on me, this is a direct resultant of a chain of events.

A frequency broadcaster gets a new license in a field they know nothing about

Do the research and get a great product

Manage their network badly

Get negtive feedback from subscribers

Ignore, and stonewall

Users get frustrated, press gets notified

press gets notified again

and again

... and again

press takes an interest

Sentech gets royally scr3w3d

Sentech decide to make users fear them

Make an honest error mailing data

There are now no words suitable for this forum to explain their current situation

Did I mention theyre screwed :)))

What can one learn from this, the whole chain of events could have been stopped after point 1, and could be replaced with

Sentech gets many happy subscribers, FSCKs Telkom, and live happily ever after

Word of advice to Sentech, or anyone else going into business, before releasing any new product, do it right, and avoid all the Cr@p.
As you have seen, the South African consumer is not going to be taking it bending over anymore[}:)]

So, if any of you large Parastatel types happen to stumble onto this, learn from Sentechs Mistakes, your customers can be your best friends, or you're biggest enemys, as theLoneGunMan says, keep your enemys closest, since you can't be sure whos an enemy...
Provide the best Freakin service possible, OR ELSE, be very afraid[:(!]

IMO there is no way Sentech could come close to surplanting Telkom. Afterall, Telkom has the secret weapon ready for the SNO (and surely MyWi if it were to ever take off). Since bandwidth is free to Telkom they can quite easily unleash their uncapped (or 20GB cap etc) ADSL offering at the first sign of Sentech dominance. Why do you think Sentech insists on 12-24 month contracts?

As always Sentech are going in (much like Telkom) to make a little bit of money in a short period. There is no good business sense. The potential is definitely not the party who stands to benefit. If one of us started an ISP it wuold not only be for personal gain but to provide a decent service that has been lacking until now. Therein lies the problem. They did not think about people who will use the service. The only thought about their own profits. IF they just spend a little now, they can reap the rewards later. By this I mean sacrifice on the profit margins by buying bandwidth (and thus excellent marketing).

Anyways theres not much we can do about the situation
