I managed to get one of those 19" CRT GIGABYTE monitors and they are terrible, out of the box it doesnt even function well, unclear, lines across the screen and cant function well at max rated resoultion.

The local Gigabyte supplier seems to use cheap nobrand stuff with their name on it

will see if i can get a refund or exchanged...

The problem is that Gigabyte do not specialise in monitors. It's like going to Ocean Basket and ordering steak, it's never going to be as good as steak at The Meat Company.

That being said you should definitely complain but you also should have seen it coming.

+1
Go Sammy or go home I'd say. I own a P2770H, never looked back!

CRT is dead, if you are buying a new monitor just look at LCD. There are tons of cheap and high quality CRT's on the 2nd hand market.

@ Rainy - To my knowledge they are AOC CRT's re-branded Gigabyte, or possibly even Chung How (Spelling) CRT's.
Go LCD and enjoy your PC experience a lot more greener too....

Is there possibility that there is something wrong with the screen? Can't you take it back and have it tested?

By the way Rainy I recall we received about 1000 CRT monitors a few years back and all the tubes were for northern hemisphere distribution and are magnetized differently to the southern hemisphere???... we sent them all back at manufacture cost and got out correct stock in about 6 weeks later.

CRT Monitors are far better than LCD in some fields such as CCTV monitoring and playing old games just to name but a few
Also my LG Flatron CRT monitor lasted me like 8 years perfect condition I don't know if my LCD will remain without dead pixels for longer than 3..

Yes, with regard to colour fidelity, off-angle colour reproduction, response time and refresh rate they are superior! However LCD's look sharper and consume less power, and cannot get the burn-in effect.

I couldn't be happier with my BenQ FP241W (super-MVA) though.

I don't like it when effective and foolhardy technology gets replaced with weaker, 1year guarantee devices.
