Shammies...
Infamous for being a Glass Canon (they have no form of Crowd Control).
They've got 2-3 single target heal spells, and 1 rather nice 'aoe' heal spell.
Shammies can be refered to Mages in Mail (+ a shield) or Rogues in Mail,
and do dps rather well,
Pre-tbc shamans were deadly in PVP, able to 1shot any class if WF proccd...at 70, they're classified the best support class - Resto shammies get Mana tide totem (sumthing like 8% mana to the grp for 15-20sec), enhance shammies have melee buffs that are exceptional and elemental shammies have the Totem of Wrath (+3% hit and +3% crit with spells!)

Shammie rock for group healing and do well if they have the right gear for 5man instances as well. Totems are great for casters and with enhancement Shammie in a melee group it boosts DPS in that group loads. Also Elemental shammies in caster group rocks. Not to mention that their class ability Heroism/Bloodlust i really imba for boosting dps when its up.
Overall shammies are really great to have in a raid or group. And ofc dont forget their selfress ability

Shammies are probably the most Efficient Group healers in the Game. Spam Chain Heal FTW.
If you want to play one remember that just like every other class you need to pick a focus and spec and gear accordingly.
So don't try DPS/Heal it's one or the other.

Started a Shammie myself. Only on lvl 18 now as I still need to get my main to lvl 70 from lvl 61 
Can't wait to start playing with my Shammie! They have really nice abilities, but you need to spec him accordingly...min will be enhance for DPS

I play elemental, enjoy playing it a lot, but 1on1 pvp sucks. In a group its great fun always in the 3 or 4 in the kills list on AV or eye. Just would have liked to see a bit of CC and single combat pvp. For our latency found elemental the easiest spec to play. No-one screams at u to heal through a bad lag spike and u dont look like a dork trying to hit (melee) someting that has moved away due to a lag spike. The only problem i have is taking aggro off the tank, but a pally buff (BOS) and omen take care of that.

My main is a 70 enhancement shammy. I'm still working on my gear (running Kara at the moment), but I can push about 550dps sustained. Still waiting to get enough honor to get my Season 1 axes.
It's a great class, in my opinion. I'm enjoying my druid (at 60 now) more though.

I love my shammy. spec depends on what you want to do though. Enhancement is killer for PVE levelling and maxing DPS in instances/raids. for pvp AV/AB/WSG etc, elemental is best. Want to get invited to every instance & raid on the server, and be loved by all your guild?, then resto is the easy choice. So be prepared to spend some money on on re-speccing now and again.
Well to tell you this. We cleared Kara the other day. Our top dpser is an enhancement shammy. Peaked 2300DPS on Curator believe it or not he is a brilliant player.
As for healing we are running a 3 man healing team in kara. Palla for MT ,me(holy priest) on OT but switching to MT on ohh @#$!@#$ situations. Our third healer is a Resto shammy and he keeps the rest of us alive. Worx great. If you want will see if I can get you some armory links. But everyting is blocked at the office.

It's good to see a Good Enhance Shammy holding up the name. We took a lot of flak when BC came out because no one believed we could DPS properly because of Aggro issues.
2.3 Made it 15% easier to stay top DPS
Elemental is great in a Raid but post 2.3 I'm not sure how well they compete in the meters. They're very badly understood spec so a good player is hard to find.
I ran with an ok Elemental pre-2.3 and i beat him like a runaway slave but I'm not sure how a good one would do.
