If I go shaped route with a proxy/VPN ... will it give me the same performance as unshaped for things like WoW and Skype?

if so .. I'm thinking of getting a normal 5Gb Shaped for browsing/Dl and a 1Gb for Skype and Wow.

Blobnow - I can only speak out of personal experience with our specific LowPing VPN. Over the last 2 months we have received alot of Unshaped SAIX users applications for our VPN, which could only mean, the VPN performance is in fact better than Unshaped SAIX.

Ive tested this myself and its definitely true, Unshaped SAIX seems to be partly shaped nowadays, also since its SAIX, the reliability factor is pretty low.

Sure the cost implications of SAIX unshaped is cheaper, but remember, the point of having unshaped is to have a high reliability factor and from my experience and many others, SAIX unshaped doesnt offer that.

IS unshaped? They do not offer such packages, well, not for low latency if thats what your looking for.

Also you were refering to a VPN, IS doesnt offer this.

Oh ok .. I thought that you could buy Saix Shaped/unshaped and IS shaped/unshaped ...

Am I correct in understanding that IS does NOT shape, and the only diffrence is that since they go over satellite, the latency will be greater?

Well IS capped accounts is shaped, except its not shaped like SAIX, its more than usable and VOIP out of the box, work 100%.

Latency is greater, but its stable and for VOIP specificly, it should be a pleasure to use. If you want Low Latency for WOW, you could opt for our unshaped local VPN if interested.

I'm already using the VPN ... but even though it runs very nice it is a bit pricy. Maybe if you didn't make your casual usage expire that would make it much nicer *hint* *hint* :)

hehe we will be dropping prices R50-R100 on certain packages from November, more information about this soon, in the mean time all pre November Casual user accounts will not expire within 60days. Only casual user accounts from November onwards, will take on this change, but the cost will also drop on it.

But ya, I agree its pricy, no doubt about that but thankfully we have had good support over the last couple of months which is why we can drop prices from November. Higher usage, lower cost :)
