My first comment is ebucks works this is internet banking? and I hope that stays that way.

My question is about msn messenger service:
this is not P2P?
online games do not work?
making a phone call does not work?
sending a file does not work?

As far as i know msn connects through server to others?

Will the same sort of thing occur with skype?

As to the dynamic bandwidth allocation is there any way of securing a small amount of bandwidth maybe even 64kb so that msn and other services will keep alive, I have tryed a repeating ping but this takes bandwidth and does not always work.

My signal is 80-100% at all times.

Is it just me who gets really crap bandwidth during office hours?

Why can't i send mail using the other service providers mail server who i am paying for (interprise)?

Thanks i will have to monitor tommorow coz i haven't couted ... sounds like a ...

Still can you answer these?

ok msn connects to servers, the reason its been crappy is there are 2 shaping systems in place for the time being, so either they drop post shaping or they add rules to allow MSN traffic to pass through, either way there will be a resolution soon.

Skype however connects through different people, its p2p but my skype right now is OK and if yours isn't you can be sure it will be fixed soon too because they won't add rules to shape skype since VOIP is a big big draw card to wireless internet in south africa.

I get good bandwith in the day but no its not just you, it all seems to be about where you are located for the tiem being.

the mail thign can be down to 2 reasons, either you are not permitted to relay messages using that SMTP server (although you do pay for it so I think thats not the case so maybe check username/password) or the other likely reasons is that there is a spammer on the iburst network who gets iBurst IPs blocked, WBS is aware of the situation and this spammer ussually tries to scan for IPs where he can relay mail through, its possible you are on a blocked IP, if you recconect and still can't send the mail then contact your admin because it means either the IP is not permitted on that server (which means it wouldn't connect at all) or theres authentication problems. One interesting note is soem mail servers use 3 pieces to verify a user, a username, password and IP mask or ident. If your server is one of these you may have the right username and password but wrong ident or IP mask, either way you'll have to contact your administrator.

I'm not sure what you mean about "securing a small amount of bandwidth maybe even 64kb" I'm going to assume you mean at times your speed is below 64kbit (even uncapped), that is not at all normal and you shoudl try the basic stuff (although I'm sure you've tried) like finding your modem sweet spot, if you still have no luck.. contact Shaun Green through this forum, although he is busy so you may have to settle for Dylan Winik at the helpdesk. I do remember that Shaun Green once posted if you get speed below 64kbit and you are not capped you shoudl contact him

I hope that helps

Thx for you help
I donno if you are using usb and iburst terminal but if you are you will note that when you are not doing anything the link speed goes down to 0. My problem would be that this happens when I am doing something that should require bandwidth. So if the the dynamic allocation could be set at a perminant min of 64 then half of ibursts and my particular problem would be solved.

line speed describes how much you are pulling at any one time, if you wanted it at 64k you get netlimiter you use somethign that constantly sends or recieves data, a stream app or whatever and shape it to 64k

if you want it to not stutter and be responsive through out you can just use the ping trick, as in ping -t -l 1 www.iburst.co.za in cmd.exe or your linux shell

Yeah i tryed the ping trick before ... sometimes it works sometimes not.

The "64k you get netlimiter you use somethign that constantly sends or recieves data"

I found to work the best before but it requires that you waste your cap.

I will just wait then for it to get better.

BTW maybe this will be one helpfull tip from me dll a file works best using getright and at least three mirrors Coz even if conditions are good enough to deliver 1mb somehow they limit the single dll iburst or server.

IE one mirror will be at 30
add another
mirror 1 30
mirror 2 30
add another
mirror 3 30 ect
MAx download at 2am was 125kbytes per second.

But ou sound like you prob already knew this Time for sleep ;)
