Shapped or Unshapped for SSL connection ???

Hye

i'm a french IT and my company have one person working in South Africa since one week, ans she's asking me about what ISP th choose!!!

The problem is that your ADSL system is really different from what we've got in France. So, i read a lot on this board and what i understand is getting a voice line from telkom, getting adsl line from telkom and getting one or more ISP. Or there is package adsl line and IPS. that's it ???
(in france we only have the second solution)

Now my question is about things we don't have in France : CAP and SHAP >_< crap... we don't have those and it's a great thing.

The internet line will be use to connect our french LAN using SSL for email, TSE, files, ... For now, she is using an unkown ISP and line, and she says that the connection is not fast, and that there are big slowdown during the day (around 5pm for exemple).

Does an unshapped line will better acces time?? Does a 3Gig CAP will be ok? What if i need more than 3Gig ? is the dsl solution the better in south africa?

DSL will definitely be better. Anything regarding overseas connections is also better with an unshaped connection.

Some isps do the adsl and sell you the data as well. Only you will know if 3gigs enough. Depends on how much she needs to get and send you.

Are they gonna be making more use of it during the day or at night?

If it's during the day use a saix based unshaped account. If it's at night use an IS Fibre based semi shaped account. It's unshaped after hours.

Most use will be during the day so semishapped is not interresting, so i'm looking in unshapped acces list, and i'd like a fast connection like a 4Mb.
can someone help to choose an ISP :

- DLS complete from webafrica - R726 for 3Gigs

- TelkomInternet AllAccess 4GB Unshaped R489 + 4MB line R413 = R902
and what is the "30 GB Free allocated Local Only bandwidth on DSL, WiMAX and satellite (on promotion)" ??

- i think it's shapped but can someone tell me about http://www.do.co.za/broadband/index.html#/home/ ??

- axxess had intersting price on "prepaid" and "pay as you go". but is it simple to change the cap if she need more?

- maybe i miss some great offer?

I have a semi shaped account at Axxess - prePaid. It's very easy to top up, she can go to any Engen Fuel station or a Pick'nPay outlet, and buy a top tup.
Works like a cellphone pay as you go system.

When the account is created (semi-shaped, anyway), you can specify payment option (such as debit-order, auto-topup etc.)
