I am creating a small home network to share iBurst connection, files and printers.

Have a PC (running XP Pro)
Notebook (XP Pro and connects wirelessly to network)
Mecer ADSL 4 Port Router
D-Link Wireless Access Point (DWL 2100-AP)

iBurst connects to moden via ethernet cable, D-Link device connects to modem via ethernet cable, PC connects to modem via ethernet cable.

Notebook connects wirelessly by internal WLAN. The notebook can see all the shared files, folders and printers, but cannot connect to the internet, whilst the PC can.

What am I missing?

An ADSL router isn't going to help you ..at least not if it's got an RJ11 for its WAN port: for it to actually BE the router for your network, it would have to be a device that has an RJ45 on its WAN port (that being the connector type for a UTD/modem).

Once you clear that, it doesn't matter that you have one without WLAN capability as you already have that DWL-AP so all you need do there is configure the one you have to provide your wireless access.

Bottom line, it's the router.

Thanks bdt.

Will upgrade the router at some point. For the time being I shared the PC's connection with iBurst and can now connect the Notebook wirelessly to the PC and have internet access through the shared connection.

All in all, not entirely ideal, but it does the job ;-)
