How do you like the new Start Screen background?

I didn't think I'd like it, but it has grown on me.

Herewith the top half of mine:



Hope the app developers bring out more transparant tiles.

(I took the photo of the Lightning (and Rooivalk))

It's the developer preview, available for free to anyone with Windows Phone 8. There has been warnings that you might void your carrier warranty but the update seems quite stable. I for one am really enjoying the update.

I bit the bullet and started my 8.1 download earlier.... still busy installing will post my new start screen tonight or tomorrow.

How did the upgrade go? I suggest you change your region and activate Cortana, it's already very much part of my daily day routine.

Failed the first time(Space issues I suspect) second time went easy enough.
Nah will wait till Cortana comes out for SA, if ever.

Be patient, it takes some time but it's worth the while. I've been testing out Cortana's location based reminders and it works great. You can have reminders for leaving and arriving at a certain geo-location. I found that the reminders popped up quite soon when I'm in the area, or leaving the area. Other reminders can pop up when you're interacting with a person, still trying to find out how Cortana knows this one: "Remind me next time I talk to my sister to ask how her husband is". How does it know who my sister is

Twice now it has told me that the update couldn't be downloaded - after doing almost 90% - then restarting at 0. Not funny at all!

I also had problems with the download interupting, until I went to a faster wifi area.
