Anyone here actually used replication software for sharepoint 2010 in a multi site deployment that you can recommend? So far AveDoc been nothing but fail.

You mean DocAve from AvePoint? We recommend it to our multi-site clients, IIRC. I haven't used it myself though.

What was the problem?

Hi,

What specific issues are you having with the replication software? Are you testing it at a specific customer? Do they already own the software?

One thing to remember. Replication by nature is very complex. You may think that buying a piece of software would just work right out the gate. But it can take some tweaking. This is regardless of the type of replication software you are using.

I am sure I can help. Hope to hear back soon.

After 2 months of trying to get an out of the box publication site replicated, we canned it and went with iOra. iOra so far had only one minor issue and is fixed with new patch out soon. AvePoint never had our environment setup as testing in their labs. I always had to open a meeting and sit back for hours upon hours for them trying to fix it. Another massive issue was language, in the end I had to use an IM to be able to understand and get my point across. This was because of the use of personnel that really had a very raw English accent.

In comparison iOra even before we started had me sent them our complete setup as it is so that they can test it before looking into possible implementation. To add to that I had one of their support guys on the phone until 11pm which at no point had any stalling in his energy to help me even if I was little down at what can we try to get to the bottom of the problem.

I would at any chance rather promote iOra they have gone beyond the call of duty and so far just excellent service and products. We've been using their replication without fail now for about 6 months (or little more).

Finally in comparison iOra is so much more intuitive and simplistic over AvePoint which seriously you need a 1000 page manual to just do the most simple thing.

@RopeyToaster, seriously I've heard that line too many times and yes it is a complex procedure, but so far only one company really delivered on what they promised their software can actually do. From day 1 AvePoint just couldn't get up the ladder in so many ways which left much to be desired for.

@Pho3nix, there is nothing better out there imho than iOra. They at least can do a publishing site without fail.

I concur, was testing out AvePoint's Connector for a while as I needed to upload files bigger than 2Gb that SP can link too. While it works, it's takes a bit of time to get used to and there user manuals take a while to get used too.

On replication.. I haven't heard of iOra but will give it a gander. We've been using Replicator and it has done an amazing job.
