Hi guys please help

Im new at share investing

My question is that some transactions are so small, why does this happen. For instance there would be transactions of 200 shares for R0.16 = R32.00 surely this is not the average Joe trading in this small amounts. Do they do this to manipulate the price?

I mean just the transaction fees will be more then that.

I'm also new to share investing, so what I'm doing is buying small amounts of different shares to test the water and see what it's all about before I put more money in. Maybe this is also why you see small transactions, where others do the same as me. Yes the transaction fees are often close to the transaction price, but this is how I learn about share investing.

Matching buyers to sellers trading different volumes means chopping up transactions. You'll see this happen to your own deals.

thanks for the reply guys!!

eisch Slingshot that is an expensive way to learn hey! But ja I would also like to learn more.........

thanks TOM that makes sense, it also depends on what is available to trade?

I bought shares in BFS I am sure there are some value there although risky. For some reason also bought shares in CSP losing money fast lol what happens if you don’t do your homework I guess

It's not that expensive if you only have a couple of small transactions. I think it's R50 a transaction on FNB's Sharebuilder. Now that I've dipped my toes in the water and it feels good, I'm not so afraid to jump in and buy more shares at a time now.
