Hi guys

Is it possible to share a USB device between the host and guest computers on VMWare without having to disconnect from one and connect to the other? It's important that both have access to the device at the same time.

Thanks

Yip ;) I can't seem to find a free one which does the same thing? ;)

In Virtual PC I create a shared folder and point that to a USB external drive. Not sure if you have that functionality in VMWare though.

It's simple to share files and folders so USB drives are not a problem, but not USB devices like printers, scanners, modems, etc. Also Virtual PC doesn't support USB, so VMware is the only option

Trying to share ADSL modem, by using bridged mode to make two separate PPPoE connections - one for host and one for guest.

If you use bridged mode you ought to be able to create a new connection (with it's own IP address) without any problems or alternate settings.

"Create a new connection"; "Connect to the internet" should do the job.

What zeb said - also make sure that vmware ethernet is in bridged mode. Note that depending on your adsl isp, you may be limited as to the number of concurrent connections on your adsl account.
