Hey guys,

I just quickly want to verify the quickest way to share my adsl connection with a friend that is coming over tomorrow.

I have a 4port ethernet router, so basically he will just plug his pc into it. I have route sentry running, but to this day i have not been able to share a route sentry setup with another pc. I have tried what antibody said in his thread with the ipig setup etc, doesnt work for me.

So if anyone could just post the quickest and most simple way to share the connection, it will be much appreciated.

Thanks

PS: Ok obviously I need to put my router back into router mode...

That simple ?

Cool, I thought it was going to be a little bit of more effort... :D

Thanks dabouncer

:)

Oh and set automatic ip addressing on each pc if ur router is in dhcp server mode. What router u gots?

I have a Microcom 4 port ethernet router...I bought if from *cough* Inrcredible connection*cough*

But I had a valid reason for doing it, my previous one that I got for free decided to go dead on me the Friday night before christmas and there was no way that I was going to be without the internet till the 26th of December, and IC was the only place that had a router that suited my needs (bridge mode + 4ports), in my quest to have the internet ! (hehehe)

PS: Router is in DHCP mode

Router is a router. Just make sure ur buddies network is setup to obtain ip address automatically! Good luck and have fun.

The method described above will however not share the routesentry setup

Only way to do that would be like ant1body stated. Your pc must act as the server,so you could grab DDProxy from
http://antibody.za.net/new/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=30

Then setup your friend's browser or apps to use your PC as HTTP proxy ( which will automatically route the traffic using your Routesentry

If you want to share it for gaming or so there won't be any easier way than setting the router on bridge, setting up the adsl accounts on his pc,loading routesentry and dialing aswell :/

Mmmmm....

My friend and I had a blast today, gave my local account a good go with some BF 2, BF 2142 and FEAR...lol and only used 536MB in 6h and 43min.(NOTE: Used my router in router mode with one account)

If I use this DDProxy in conjunction with Route Sentry, will I then be able to share my connection over the network with another pc, using Route Sentry to still route local traffic through my local account and international through my international account, if the other pc's accesses the net via my pc ??

If anyone can shed more light on this, it would be greatly appreciated..

Thanx PsyWulf for bringing this app also under my attention, as I was not aware of it...

Ahhhh....sorry PsyWulf. I will try this with my dad's pc a little bit later today. Is not that I didnt read your post closely, it was just the way you structured your sentence that made it a little bit unclear. But I understand now.

Thank you very much for your input. Will let you know if I do manage to get things working.

:)

PsyWulf,

Thanx a million dude ! It works like a charm....:D

So easy to setup and use, and the instructions are soooo straight forward.

A BIG Thank you goes out to ANTIBODY !

I am so excited now....I must sommer go and shout it from the rooftops !! :p

3g Sharing over network

I wonder if someone can help me we are using a Vodacom 3g card on my laptop. I have a crossover network cable between my laptop and PC. I shared the 3g connection and if you go the the pc it shows that the 3g connection is available and if you click on it the 3g card on my laptop starts up. But if you open the internet explorer there is no connection.
Could you please tell me if there are settings I need to change.
