I have a Smart M contract currently, and want to get a Laptop deal, but be able to share the data or transfer data from laptop SIM to Smart Phone. Can this be done. Sharing would be preferable, but data transfer would also be acceptable.

Thanks.

1. Take a laptop deal that comes with a MiFi router, not a dongle. You would have to carry the MiFi with you (it runs on a battery so it is small and portable)
2. You would need a dual sim phone, and then we can link a data sim to your laptop contract which pulls from the same bundle but into the phone.

You cannot transfer a data bundle from one number to another number in the way you refer to.

Ouch, then I am up the creek, without a paddle, as Galaxy S6 is not Dual SIM ... , but Mi-Fi router could be a possibility ... , :(

Tho far from ideal, many thanks ... :D

Someone with me at the conference has that kind of setup. Carries his little MiFi with him and his phone, laptop, tablet, whatever is connected to it to share the data bundle.

The whole point, is, I want to reduce the amount of items I need to carry around, and charge, and look after and .... , on a daily basis, not increase them ... , llike a power bank to make sure the Mi-Fi stays alive and functioning, not to mention, the Mi-Fi itself etc ...

I understand, but those are the only solutions from our network perspective. Once again, sorry that I cant assist more. :(

Here is one more suggestion, not sure if this is against VC business rules. Perhaps Okie can advise.
1) Take out Multi Data SIM on your Smart M.
2) Add the required "Bolt On" data bundle to Smart M.
3) Acquire LTE Router inserting said Multi Data SIM.
4) Try for Laptop upgrade via Deal Creator.
You can now share data over one line across multi devices. Using Wifi sharing from your phone when mobile to connect laptop and home using the router.

Ok, my input.

1. Add on data bundle I think is more expensive than seperate data contract, on voice lines.

2. The stores normally wont be able to create a manual deal with a laptop unless the client is prepared to pay the once off cash payment. This can be large depending on the laptop model. If the upgrade is on a company line, this can be done better on the corp system that I use I believe....BUT, the support might not be as good as the standard deals issued. There are variables here so it really would depend. Just as a example, if I try and create a better deal on the corp system I use to see if I can better a Iphone deal, mine will work out more expensive per month compared to the standard deal .... because Vodacom have pushed in more support on those deals. So, it really depends.

Ockie thanks for your valued input and clarity.

Surething. Not saying yours wont work, but there are drawbacks.

What must be remembered is that even though people here a lot of the times dont like what our advice is or what is possible, must be remembered we are not Vodacom. We try to help, but we have to advise as to what we can do and we can only work within our systems, processes and business rules layed down to us.
