sharing windows server 2003 folder with linux

Basically I've set up dhcp on my server and managed to connect linux to the server. now i would like to share any folder on my server and use linux to connect to that folder. The option i'm using is under "places" and "connect to server" and i've set it to windows share but when i click connect it ask for a password and i tried my server's password and my linux password but it just gets stuck there.

wondering what i'm doing wrong

any help will be much appreciated

use \\servername\share for the share (when connecting from linux)

and domain\user.surname for the user

Create an user on the 2k3 server, add user permissions to share

dude...I'm sorry but can you maybe explain in a bit more detail? because i have no clue what you mean :$ sorry about that i'm still new with this

You need to use domain\username as the username.
