Lost a few really good guys over the years but it never gets easier. Luckily we have the likes of Lambie, Mvovo, Sithole, Majola, Marcell, PSdT, etc to still show some passion. Now if only we had a competent coaching team ;)

Thanks for the share, Willem Alberts is really part of the Sharks family.

The Sharks have just announced the resignation of assistant coach Brad Macleod-Henderson.

yes please, now just a couple more and we're good to go ......

And Gold is stepping down as coach and will stay on as Director of Rugby.

And Gold is stepping down as coach and will stay on as Director of Rugby.

To be fair I do believe he was always director of rugby and was only coaching this year because there was no time to appoint a new head coach too.

Thank you @APoc184. So then there will be a new coach in time for the Currie Cup?

Sharks won't buy replacements

Sharks Director of Rugby Gary Gold said it will not be easy to replace the outgoing stalwarts in Durban however they have a plan within their structures.

Gold highlighted the positive spin-off from a disappointing season with regards to youngsters stepping up and performing, and that is the mentor's strategy going forward to replace such illustrious players.

"Stefan Ungerer, Lionel [Cronje], Andre [Esterhuizen], Sibusisho [Sithole] - outstanding. Etienne [Oosthuizen], Kyle [Cooper] have all showed a lot of promise, and that is our strategy - look at bringing through youngsters rather than replace super-star with super-star," explained Gold at a press conference in Durban.

"You are not going to replace Bismarck [du Plessis], so we should not try and do that.

"We need a hooker yes, but we must back our youngsters - Coops [Cooper] has played 50 or 60 Super Rugby games and Monde Hadebe is coming through. We must back these guys."

The victory against the Stormers at Kings Park marked the end of an era for Bismark du Plessis, Jannie du Plessis and Willem Alberts when they played their last game in the black and white.

A World Cup year often sees players moving about and Gold said it has been a frustrating time.

"It has been a tough couple of weeks with the to-ing and fro-ing regarding player movement and to lose such stalwarts is sad, you know top players move on," said Gold.

"It happens [players leaving] but when three go at once it is a hard blow.

"We are in a sad place - we are not in the play-offs, and we are losing key players.

"When you have not performed, and you know players are moving on, it is a sombre place."

Gold though is excited about the talent coming through the ranks in Durban and believes a young ambitious side will bode well for the franchise in the future.

"It is exciting to see youngsters step up and that is where we must focus.

"We have players coming back from South Africa Under-20 as well so we will have a young and enthusiastic side.

"We are not going to ask for patience because we know you don’t get it!"

Thank you @APoc184. So then there will be a new coach in time for the Currie Cup?

I do believe so yes.

Not sure if they are going to appoint a main head coach once off or appoint an interim Currie Cup coach like the Bulls. Thus giving them some time to properly weigh up options for full time coach from 2016.

Sharks coach falls on his sword

http://www.rugby365.com/article/66891-sharks-coach-falls-on-his-sword

Brad Macleod-Henderson has become the first casualty as the Sharks look to revamp their coaching structures.

Macleod-Henderson, an assistant to Gary Gold during the Super Rugby season, has resigned from the Sharks.

As was reported by rugby365 last week, Gold will move upstairs as Director of Rugby and will no longer be involved in any on-field coaching.

Macleod-Henderson has been involved with the Sharks since 2012 - initially with the Under-21 team, before joining the senior side in July 2013.

He was assistant coach in the last two Super Rugby campaigns - looking after the forwards and breakdown, while he has head coach of the Currie Cup teams.

"We had offered Brad a role within our new structures, but he felt that it was time to move on," the Sharks said in a terse statement.

"After playing for the Sharks in the late 1990 and early 2000, he joined us on the back of a six-year investment banking career and with a Honours in Economics and his MBA nearly completed.

"We take this opportunity to wish him and his family the very best moving forward."

Gold also confirmed there will be changes in coaching set-up.

"It is not going to be clear out or clean slate," he said, adding: "We looking at our junior structures and put lot of energy into Vodacom Cup.

"I will be more of a Director of Rugby than hands-on coach.

"I will Look at our structures, which are not ideal, and look for expertise.

"There will go a lot of energy into junior structures and recruitment, as well as into working with the coaches and make sure all the sharks teams are playing the same rugby - event the schools and universities.

"I don't see me as being hands-on coach.

"It just happened that when I came in the Sharks needed a coach.

"There certainly is not going to be radical changes, but there will be tweaking.

"We need solid structures for a few years now, we need to calm things down and have continuity going forward."

Gold said they have not advertised for the position of head coach.

"However, we have a few candidates.

“I have a debt to pay to a franchise that welcomed me with open arms when I was a nobody out of school, and then have stuck by me for two years when I was mostly injured.

“I need to honour that debt and I want to”

So if the rumors going around are true, PSdT is quite a shady fsck for saying the above a couple months back ........
