Sharks Supporters Thread

Yeah, we have an arrogance about us when we play the weaker sides. It costs us. So dissapointing.

Ah yeah, you're right. That was Jordaan. And it's a pity because he showed so much potential in the 7s games and a few of the domestic games he's played. But his inexperience is a liability...

line outs were fscked from the first whistle! bench smith! :p

100% agreed, I remember a Springbok game against the ozzies where Smit (not smith) lost it for us with his shocking lineouts. He's a great player, just not brilliant and when he cocks up, he does so royally.

So the (I call it stupidity) 'inexperience' of Jordaan and Vulindulu come to the fore eh .... man they were atrocious. As for the rest of the team, maybe someone can let them know that they were supposed to show up in Bloem today .... coz what I saw was not a top of the table team

Thankfully I missed the game. Yet again our bogey teams get us. Cheetahs and Reds

Little hicup no worries sure the sharks will, like the bulls, still end under the top 4 :)

No excuses for the schoolboy display but ffs, how long are these Crusaders gonna get preferential treatment from fscking refs. Forward passes, lying all over the ball, blatant slowing down over and over and over, constantly being offside ....... the list goes on.

Everything about the ref you say is true, BUT, the boys have gone up against that before and come back with a win. Hopefully the rest next weekend is what they need to pick up their game again. 10 weeks in a row has to be tough on anyone.

The sharks lost this game.

Knock-ons is the single worst part of this game that we call rugby. I wish it didn't exist.

I think we're the only team to not have had the bye already no? If that's the case, that's actually messed up if you think about it ..... that everyone else gets a rest except us.

Yes, it's no coincidence, that the Sharks & Waratahs the last two teams to have a bye, have looked tired, slow and lacking in ideas the past few weeks.

As for our play, it's disjointed and individualistic, hopefully the return of Ruan Pienaar will bring more structure and teamwork back to our play. And our first phase possession has had a few issues of late, scrums being inconsistent, some very good and bad ones; lineouts were a disaster last week, slight improvement this week, but still way down compared to our first 6 games.

And the refs, the less said the better, the Aus refs have always been bad, but their performances this S14 have been absolutely terrible. NZ refs were good, but in the past 2 years they've dropped to Aus standard. Our refs, specifically our top 4(Kaplan, Lawrence, Joubert, Jonker) are usually quite good, and consistent, but even they are battling to be consistent with their officiating of the rucks.

If one team can play the ball on the ground at the rucks and the other can't(one team can turn the ball over at the ruck despite having no players on their feet), the question then becomes what's the point to playing, since there are more rucks than anything else in a game of rugby.

Now I'm not saying the refs are cheating, though some are so bad it could sure look like it. A good ref is usually evident by his ability to read the game, good positional play and make good consistent decisions under pressure. But if you don't have that you will continually get to the rucks too late and penalise the first thing you see, which is usually the 3rd infringement. That slowness to the rucks usually gives the teams on average 2 seconds to play the ball on the ground.

NZ seems to have got the idea an ex-player makes a good ref, want proof that's not necessarily true, look no further than Bryce Lawrence.

As for the supposed "Elite panel" that's officiating in S14 this year, that's a contradiction in terms while it's loaded with substandard officials.

The only solution is to have an independent impartial body under the IRB for refs where they are properly and regularly evaluated and tested to see whether they're up to standard or not. But this will never happen while England and Australia continue to have a too dominant say in the IRB.

Sorry I ignored my comment about the less said the better :p lol
