Sharks Supporters Thread

Trying to work out why we are playing like we are is quite the riddle.

Any ideas?

Based purely on the players body language it just doesnt seem like they are enjoying being on the field. They have low work rates and are sluggish.

Perhaps the early injuries in the backline, coupled with low rotation of players has created some player fatigue (possible mental). I get the sense with muir's last season he swopped and changed to much, now we are sitting with the opposite.

Ludike on the other hand rested non injured players quite heavily. The bulls seem to have more fight in them.

But beyond that, the poor finishing is hard to explain. I would like to see the sharks play more structured running rugby. Their helter skelter stuff is getting a bit tiresome. Part of me thinks our players are battling to get themselves in the right psotions because of the "unstructured nature" of the sharks structure. When they do, it works well, but when they start dropping 50/50 passes and confidence drops, landing the 50/50 stuff just gets harder and the pressure builds.

I'm hoping the changes to ther rules next year will make the game a little smoother.

I think it's about high time that the useless Grant Bashford, out backline coach (afaik) gets thrown out with the trash ..... Balie Swart, the forwards coach, has earned more time and I suppose in the absence of anyone else, John Plumtree can have another bash at it but Bashford needs to be replaced by someone who can actually get out backline firing.

Hehe, I'm also upset but hey 1) **** happens (by **** I mean injury disruptions and a useless backline coach) and 2) I'm still a Sharks supporter.

The sharks have only the sharks to blame...

They should have won last weekend with a bonus point and they should never have lost against the cheetahs.

But like you said water under the bridge. Maybe you can beat the bulls with a bonus point next week.

Well, I don't know so much about the Cheetahs .... they seem to be worthy of being much further up the log when they feel like it, I mean, they almost beat the Bulls last night too. So I'd rather have the loss against the Reds as the shameful match and the Crusaders and Waratahs losses as the Silly-Play-and-Dreadful-Ref-Decisions matches.

Nah I don't ..... coz if I was a Breezers fan, I'd have hung myself last season already :p

A Disciplinary Hearing was held on Monday into the citing of Waratahs replacement scrumhalf Brett Sheehan for a late and dangerous tackle on Sharks center Bradley Barritt following Saturday’s Super 14 match in Durban.

Sheehan was represented by lawyer Stephan Weyers and his case was heard by SANZAR Judicial Officer Attorney Dekker Govender.

The Waratahs replacement scrumhalf admitted that his shoulder made contact with the Sharks player. The Judicial Officer ruled that the incident between the two players was unavoidable as both players were running at each other, at pace. Govender also added that the incident was a collision rather than a tackle.

The case against Sheehan was not upheld by the Judicial Officer. As a result the player will be available for selection the Waratahs’ next Super 14 match against the Auto & General Lions in Johannesburg on Friday night.

Our useless citing commissioner strikes again, unavoidable, so it's ok to collide into someones neck

What a heap of crap - that was a blatant shoulder charge - he even increased his own momentum to make the challenge. WTF!?

Oh lovely, just what I needed to hear to improve my black mood ..... how the hell do the ykeep getting away with the **** they do. You know, I'm starting to see a freaky thing here ...... it seems out citing bumheads are acting just like our refs ..... over-trying to come across as non-biased, to the point of punishing us. Yeah, it may sound conspiracy theorish but I challenge you to watch the games where we (SA team) played a NZ or OZ team and had a SA ref in charge and not find their actions against us a little disturbing ;)

With all these citings soon players will not allowed to tackle another player, they will have to gently touch and fall to the ground in an orderly manner.

We'll be playing touch rugby by the next world cup at this rate...

Oh it just gets better ...... Craig Joubert, he of the "It was a vicious punch, give him a red" when dealing with the Kockott open handed slap, is in charge on Saturday in the Sharks vs Bulls match. Watch this space for a flurry of decisions in the Bulls favour ;)

I thought it was "us" bulls supporters that always blame the ref??? ;)

I don't see how that would be the case ....... you play so dirty so often and get away with it, I dunno why you'd have to complain about reffing decisions at all

I thing there is a fine line between playing dirty, and playing rough? you agree...

the sharks aren't that clean either, just not as much in the spotlight, the rest of the country don't hate the sharks as much as they hate the bulls, so all their little shina****ns aren't scrutinized as much as the bulls'

I watched most sharks and bulls games this season, and neither of these two teams are saints.... there were quite a few times the sharks did some things that bakkies in his worst day can't conjure up
